A restful day out! Suitable for all vehicles with 4WD low range. The first part of the trip is 2WD territory – a pretty, winding drive through hills and farmland, alongside Coxs River. Some dirt roads, some tar. Then we get into 4WD-only tracks: down to Coxs River Campground and back up; then along Glen Chee and Black Range Roads. There are some creek crossings, but nothing deep. Provided the track is dry, this is a good drive for beginners.

Last time we went (April 2023), they’d graded the tracks and it was a very easy drive (too easy), apart from one very slippery hill (it was raining at the time).

We’ll have a longish lunch stop at Coxs River Campground. See photo. From the campground, those who want to can do the walk to Bowtells Suspension Bridge and back. Easy walk, approximately 40 minutes round trip.

Bring: Recovery gear, 12v air compressor, tyre gauge, CB (UHF) radio if you have one, lunch, water, chairs.
