Monkey Gum is a monster track, that takes about 8 hours to complete. It’s not crazy hard, but it is relentless and taxing on the body and mind (because it takes so long).
It’s solid 3 hours drive from Sydney, so best is to camp the night before and after. Coolendel is expensive, but has good facilities, and after a hard day of driving, nothing is better than a hot shower.
Most likely plan is meet on friday night, drive early on saturday morning, stay Saturday night and then go home on Sunday.
Maximum cars on the track is 8 – however, there are other tracks apart from Monkey Gum that take less time to complete, and equally fun, so we could organise a second trip.
If you want to drive Monkey Gum, you need a well prepared car – winch is preferred – and a well prepared driver.
