Meeting date and time: Saturday 12 August at 9am.

Meeting place: Parking area in Capertee on Castlereagh Highway, opposite Glen Davis Rd: https://goo.gl/maps/ndxqZmR2kPJKcEP76 (43 Castlereagh Hwy, Capertee NSW 2846).

Grade: Medium. You need a lift and extension points (so that we can safely recover the car if you get stuck). Not suitable for beginners, but fine if you have a couple of trips with the club under your belt.

We’ll start at Capertee and make our way to the Pinnacle Rocks, a rock formation on top of a hill. We’ll have lunch at the Pinnacle, then take Dark Corner Mtn Trail and Blackbutt Mtn Trail to Sunny Corner. We expect to end the trip at around 4.30pm (but anything can happen on the trail).

The countryside is spectacularly beautiful. Gorgeous forests; kangaroos abound (ha ha got it?); birds; a ridge drive with views on both sides; pebbly clear-flowing river and creeks. We cross the Turon River a few times.

This trip has it all: river crossings, steep ascents and descents to creek crossings; deep ruts (the worst ones have chicken runs); rocky climbs; bogs (one of our cars got bogged when we explored the trail yesterday).

We’ll have 8 cars on the trip, including Matt and Phil, who helped explore the trail with me on 22 July.
