Join me for a beautiful, easy drive to explore 3 key lookouts which offer spectacular views across the Hunter Valley region.

The main dirt road that feeds onto the 3 lookout tracks has recently been graded and can be driven in 2wd.

The 3 tracks to the lookouts are closed in by vines and will require 4L at times but all passable as of last Friday when I drove the entire trip route.

The trip offers a great opportunity to explore the capabilities of your 4wd on different types of surfaces without any major wash aways, bogs or steps to climb.

The trip has been limited to 4 vehicles given the limited turn around space at the different lookouts.

Meet at the corner of Great Northern Rd & Wollombi Rd.

From there, we’ll drive in convoy to the start of Pokolbin Forest.

The plan is to stop for lunch at around 12 at a spot we feel offers an amazing view. (There are no facilities – just the forest.) After lunch, we’ll continue to explore airing up at Wollombi Rd.

Bring: 12v air compressor, tyre gauge, CB (UHF) radio if you have one, lunch, chairs, water to drink and wash hands.
