A restful day out! The first part of the trip is 2WD territory – a pretty, winding drive through hills and farmland, alongside Coxs River. Some dirt roads, some tar. Then we get into 4WD-only tracks: down to Coxs River Campground and back up; then along Glen Chee and Black Range Roads. Provided it’s dry, this is a good drive for beginners.

I did the drive in December. There are some creek crossings, some interesting rocky bits, a fair dinkum bog hole. (Plus a notice on a tree with phone number if you get stuck!)

We’ll have a longish lunch stop at Coxs River Campground. See photo.

Optional extras – let me know in the comments what you think:
- Fire trail? If anyone knows the firetrails in the area and would like to lead a sub-trip up one of them, that’d be great! I haven’t done any of them. For instance, there’s the Waterfall Creek fire trail.
- Walk to suspension bridge? From the campground, those who want to could do the walk to Bowtells Suspension Bridge and back. Approximately 1.5 hours return trip.

Bring: Recovery gear, 12v air compressor, tyre gauge, CB (UHF) radio if you have one, lunch, water, chairs.

Location
