20230129 UPDATE: The 4WDNSW&ACT January newsletter (including quarterly meeting info and a better map) has been circulated via gmail to all members today.
Members of HK4WD as the rain again falls have I got a deal for YOU!!
4WDNSW&ACT Quarterly Meeting and SWOT
You may be aware 4WDNSW&ACT are having a quarterly meeting on Saturday February 18 in conjunction with a SWOT seminar.
This posting is mainly about SWOT – an acronym devised by somebody as a corporate team building exercise that stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.
I have attached a blurb that may be interpreted as a questionnaire received from 4WDNSW&ACT about the SWOT event.
The reason for this posting at TeamApp comprises two components.

The first is to ask members to consider the SWOT components in the context and as described in the attached blurb and reply to me preferably as a “word” document what you consider as being items that might reasonably be expected to be provided by an umbrella such as 4WDNSW&ACT beyond those now provided (described as Strengths below). PLEASE respond by Thursday February 16 so I can collate and compile the response(s)

A couple of suggestions put forward in discussion at the committee this week for inclusion in the HK4WD submission to the SWOT seminar include:
Strengths (Currently): 4WDNSW&ACT Inc primary strengths are summarised as liaison between members and training, umbrella insurance cover for clubs, liaison with the 4WD community through Newsletter and other media, promotion of and liaison with 4WD and related activities.
Strength, Weakness & Opportunity (Club, region & National level): 4WDNSW&ACT Inc are in a position to assist and facilitate access to restricted areas through relevant and appropriate contacts in NPWS, Forestry NSW etcetera in much the same manner as the “adopt a trail” initiative a score of years ago.
Strength, Weakness & Opportunity (Club, region & National level): 4WDNSW&ACT Inc have promoted the recent Gardens of Stone submission(s) proved reasonably effective and commendable but failed to gain 4WD community access to decision making forums for the management of the area now legislated. Promotion of what may be perceived as political representation may be an avenue worthy of pursuit out of the SWOT seminar.
Threats: HK4WD are content with the status quo in our relationship with 4WDNSW&ACT Inc and appreciate the opportunity to participate in the upcoming SWOT event providing an outcome is not deterioration of the current strengths of 4WDNSW&ACT Inc.

The Second is invite members to the seminar and / or the quarterly meeting.
I note I anticipate driving up to Wallerawang leaving Killara between 0500 and 0530 on February 18. I will have room for one passenger, or three if two of them happen to have no legs (there is not mush-room in the back seat of the Navarra). If you wish to be that person (or expect to lose your legs in the coming couple of weeks), please give me a ring on 0418940405, pretty much any time (except when the battery is flat, which is often the case).
The quarterly meeting particulars are apparently going to be provided in the imminently to be issued January Newsletter from 4WDNSW&ACT Inc, but will be held commencing at 0900hrs on Saturday February 18 in Wallerawang. As at 25 January there is no indication of the newsletter.
I am advised there will be representatives from NPWS to discuss Gardens of Stone and other issues in which we spend our time, so please indicate you are interested in attending in the usual manner on this site.
Cheers
